Headship
Eph.5: 21 “And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord… 25 For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her”
Great leaders [parents] exercise their authority within the boundaries of love, wisdom, and sufficiency. Anything outside of this will lead to abuse. Read the rest of this entry
Step Up Lesson 5
Ex.2:2 “The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She saw that he was a special baby and kept him hidden for three months.”
Heb.11:17 “It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him. Abraham, who had received God’s promises, was ready to sacrifice his only son, Isaac, 18 even though God had told him, “Isaac is the son through whom your descendants will be counted.” Read the rest of this entry
By Faith!
Heb.11:8 “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going” [with emphasis].
The fifth example of stepping up by faith is Abraham. Most times, God would not show you the total picture, God would not fully tell you how or where. People often come to me asking to know what will happen next in their journey with God. Read the rest of this entry
Time & Effort
2 Kings 17:36 But worship only the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt with great strength and a powerful arm. Bow down to him alone, and offer sacrifices only to him.
Ps. 147:11 [ERV] “The Lord enjoys people who worship him and trust in his faithful love.” God wants you to worship Him in spirit and in truth. He wants you to release your spirit, your soul, and your body to Him. Read the rest of this entry
Pure Joy II
James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” [with emphasis].
It appears that man’s perception of joy is very different from God’s reality. Yesterday, we learnt that there is joy and there is pure joy. God says we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of different kinds. And that does not really line up with our idea of what happiness is. Read the rest of this entry
Jokes Aside
Judg.13:4 Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean. 5 You will become pregnant and have a son whose head is never to be touched by a razor because the boy is to be a Nazirite, dedicated to God from the womb…”
Many times when God establishes a covenant with us, we try to rationalize. Like Abraham said to God, “Will you make me a father of many nations at age ninety-nine? Let Ishmael live before you oh God!” [paraphrased]. In other words, Abraham was telling God the faulty foundation [Ishmael] that he had “helped” God build since God was late with delivery. He was showing God an example of how to produce a child. But God said, “I will bless Ishmael but in Isaac shall your seed be”. Isaac was not even born yet and Abraham was Read the rest of this entry
Weeds II
“The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity.” Luke 8:14 [emphasis added].
Question – how much effort is needed to grow a weed? None! Do you know why? It is because weeds are signs of neglect. Anything you neglect will grow weeds. The farmers will tell you that any area you neglect on the farm, weeds will grow there. If you neglect your walk with God, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your relationship with your spouse, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your relationship with your children, it will grow weeds. If you neglect your education, Read the rest of this entry
Time & Trouble
“Take the time and trouble to keep yourself spiritually fit” 1 Tim.4:7 [Ph, emphasis added].
“For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse” Rom.1:20. You and I are without excuse, because spiritual things are clearly revealed even in our daily living. Take physical fitness for instance, if you want to be physically fit it is going to take time and trouble. You have to take the trouble to wake up early to jog, to go to Read the rest of this entry
Key Thoughts III
“So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises” Heb.6:12
Our concluding thought yesterday was that the fulfillment of every destiny will require several steps of faith. So in order to secure victory and fulfill destiny, you need to turn these destiny destroyers into destiny accelerators. So we start by replacing greed with generosity. Secondly, replace impatience with patience. Patience is a powerful destiny accelerator. People are Read the rest of this entry
Love is … I
“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13
Love is a person – God is love. Love starts from the Person of God in your heart. If that does not exist, everything you do outwardly will be a noisy gong and a clanging cymbal. “Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love” 1 Cor.13:13. This means that love is the highest expression of life. There are things that we see and say this is love. For instance, a man Read the rest of this entry
