Think On These

Luke 11:10 “For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

We start today’s devotional with the concluding thought from yesterday which is, “Lay hands suddenly on no man…” (1 Tim. 5:22, KJV). John provides us with the missing link regarding Jesus choosing the disciples. We see from John’s account that Jesus already knew these men before He engaged them. Read the rest of this entry

Receive & Practice

Philip.4:9 “Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.” (AMPC)

John 1:29The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him and declared, “Here is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (NRSV, emphasis added). The Lamb of God that takes away, that cleanses the sins of the world. Cleansing is part of the package delivered to us by Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Joy & Peace

Gal. 5:22-23 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

The joy that overflows, is a component of the fruit of the Holy Spirit. I was reading the work of a renowned theologian Thomas Aquinas, and he said something very profound. He says, “God is happiness by His Essence: for He is happy not by acquisition or participation of something else, but by His Essence. On the other hand, men are happy by acquisition or participation.” Read the rest of this entry

Spot-on

2 Tim.3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

The instructions of the Book of Daniel are so important and key to us and to our walk with God. Particularly when you look at the values that are being upheld, seeing how people are lacking in character. Read the rest of this entry

What Will It Be?

Isa.6:“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me” (KJV).

Imagine being home alone with your father and both of you are sitting in the living room, watching television. Then your father turns to you and says, “I need water, who is going to get water for me?” Read the rest of this entry

James 1:5 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking” [with emphasis]

To know something is one thing, to understand it is another thing, and to properly apply it is wisdom. Wisdom is the proper application of what you know. Read the rest of this entry

Pointers

Ps.32:“The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

In the path of life, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, there are certain pointers to pre-determine decisions when we get to crossroads. Read the rest of this entry

Acts of Charity

Eph.2:8 (GW) “God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God. 9 It’s not the result of anything you’ve done, so no one can brag about it.”

That you are saved today is because someone had compassion on you. Someone saw you going to hell and decided to tell you about Christ and eternal life.

Face The Fear I

Ps.105:19 “Until the time came to fulfil his dreams, the Lord tested Joseph’s character.”

We all are drawn to people that have character. I love people that have character and I am sure you do too. Think about this; who will you leave your child with?

True or Truth?

Ps.24:4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their saviour.”

Most of us think it is just enough to say what is true. But what is true is not always the truth. Something can be true and not be the truth. So, the fact that you said something that is true, does not mean you have spoken the truth.
