The danger with programmed conditional curses is that they does not take effect immediately. So people tend to think there is nothing to the curse but in reality that is very far from the truth. Nothing happened when Joshua invoked the curse [Josh.6:26] and for years after, it was the same thing. But as soon as Hiel fulfilled the conditions of the curse [1Kings 16:34], which was rebuilding Jericho, the curse was immediately activated.

The sixth cause of curses is self-pronounced curses. The power of life and death lies in the tongue [Prov.18:21]. Sometimes we hinder ourselves with our own words. The unstable economy is affecting everyone but in addition to that you say, “I am finished!” You are not finished, in Jesus Name. Curse & Effect
Num.23:23 No curse can touch Jacob; no magic has any power against Israel. For now it will be said of Jacob, ‘What wonders God has done for Israel!’
The third cause of curses is parental curses. While all curses are devastating, a parent cursing a child is one of the most direct and devastating. It is a horrible thing! Please read Genesis 49:3-4. Your Job
2 Kings 2: 23 … a large group of young boys …began making fun of him: “Keep going, baldy! Keep going, baldy!” 24 …Elisha …spoke against them by the authority of the Eternal. Almost immediately, 2 female bears walked out of the forest and ripped up 42 of the …boys” [Voice]
I imagine that there were more than forty-two children there, but the Bible records that forty-two were ripped up. So it is safe to assume that some got away, with scratches on their bodies and deeply traumatized. That tells me that those ones had parents that were praying for them. Some people always seem to have near death experiences while others in similar situations do not survive it. Why? Someone is on his or her knees praying for him or her. In yesterdays devotional, we began to talk about curses and their effects. If you have not read it, please start to do so. The first effect of curses is that curses release supernatural forces to limit a person or a place. Secondly, curses are released to paralyze and negate people or places. I pray in the name of Jesus that every curse that is trying to or has succeeded in paralyzing or negating you or any part of your life, God will wipe out today [say Amen].

Who is it that says you will not fulfill your destiny and you are afraid, when God has not said it? Who can command things to happen without the Lord’s permission? Num.23:23 No curse can touch Jacob; no magic has any power against Israel. The challenge with a lot of us Africans is that we like to let go of the things we know and embrace the things we do not know. The western cultures are more harmful than a lot of us like to believe. Activate & Benefit
Gen.22:17 “I will certainly bless you. I will multiply your descendants beyond number, like the stars in the sky and the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will conquer the cities of their enemies.”
Jesus became a curse so that we can be engrafted into the blessings of Abraham. However, to have access to something is one thing, to activate that thing is another matter. There are many of Abraham’s children that are spiritually depressed. Even in the nation of Israel, there are a lot of people that are not saved. Jesus is telling us that it is possible to have access to something and not to use it or benefit from it.
The Blessing

A change of name is a change of identity. Your name follows you wherever you go. You cannot shake it off. God said to Jacob, “Your name is your problem. I need to give you a new name”[paraphrased]. God is going to give you a new name this season. For some, it is physical and for others it is spiritual. If your name is detrimental to your greatness change it, because your name is your identity. What Counts
Gen.32: 28 “Your name will no longer be Jacob,” the man told him. “From now on you will be called Israel, because you have fought with God and with men and have won.”
What has God said to you? When such questions are posed, some people immediately connect and are fired up. But some others feel lost because they are still developing their hearing from God.
