Do It Now!

Eccl. 11:4 “Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.”

Prov. 6:4 “Don’t procrastinate—there’s no time to lose.” (MSG). Most times, we just waste time. There is not going to be an ideal time, start it now! Just get it done! Do not waste time, the conditions are not going to be perfect. Read the rest of this entry

Your Body Counts

Rom.12:1 “…..Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — which is your spiritual worship.” (NIV, paraphrased)

Do you realize that your body controls your destiny? Yes, your body actually controls your destiny. The reality is if you do not take care of your body, you do not care about your destiny. Read the rest of this entry

For Nothing

Philip. 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (NKJV)

We are going to be looking at the things that attempted to steal the joy from the hearts of some people who were present at the very first Christmas. We will look at Mary, Joseph, and the wise men and what tried to steal their joy. Read the rest of this entry

The Right Kind

Ps. 16:3 “And these God-chosen lives all around—what splendid friends they make!” (MSG)

To defeat and overcome fears, the second thing is, I Need To Stop Listening To The Voices Of Fear. We need to stop listening to the voices of fear. Be careful about what you listen to and who you listen to so that you do not become paranoid. Read the rest of this entry

Cede Control

Job 11:13-18 Surrender your heart to God, turn to him in prayer. . . Then… you will be confident and fearless. Your troubles will go away… and your darkest night will be brighter than noon. Then you’ll rest safe and secure, filled with hope and emptied of worry!” (CEV, emphasis added)

Yesterday, we looked at the woman of Shunem and how the fear of disappointment would have stopped her from receiving God’s blessings for her. However, Elisha said to her, whether you believe it or not, whether you like it or not, you will have a boy next year. Read the rest of this entry

Secure?

Ps. 46:1-2 “God, you’re such a safe and powerful place to find refuge! You’re a proven help in time of trouble—more than enough and always available whenever I need you. So we will never fear even if every structure of support were to crumble away…” (KJV)

We pick up today’s devotional from our final thought yesterday, which is, as a leader, you have to be careful how you handle fear. Why was Jerusalem afraid? What was their fear? Their king, Herod was afraid, and so everyone was in fear. Read the rest of this entry

Wise Action

Matt. 2:1-2 “Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”

The wise men came from Babylon. Historically, it is said that it took them at least two years to go from where they were to where Jesus was. Two years of seeking Jesus – wow! When the star stops, they stop. When the star moved, they moved. Read the rest of this entry

Heard, Seen, and Touched

1 John 1:1 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life” (NKJV).

John 21:24This disciple is the one who testifies to these events and has recorded them here. And we know that his account of these things is accurate.” John finally owned up that the other disciple, the person that wrote this book, and the person that Jesus loved is he, John. Reflection

John 15:16 “You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”

Yesterday, we highlighted four different expressions of love for God based on growth [level] in God. The spiritual infant expresses love for God by eating, sleeping, crying, and so on. The spiritual child expresses love through obedience and devotion. Read the rest of this entry

Come Thirsty?

John 20:10-11 “Then they went home. Mary was standing outside the tomb crying, and as she wept, she stooped and looked in.”

John outran Peter but he did not overstep authority. Peter arrived on the scene and they both went into the tomb. What they saw confirmed what they had been told and they went home satisfied. But not Mary. Think about this for a minute; these were men, ladies came to call you that there is trouble. Read the rest of this entry
