Harmony

James 3:9-10 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!”

Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional is really big and worthy of repetition because it is so important that we get what James is saying to us. And it is this; exhibiting the gifts of the Holy Spirit and not manifesting the fruit of the Holy Spirit is a misnomer. Read the rest of this entry

New Reality

Gal.2:20 (KJV) “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Rom.12:2Don’t let the world squeeze you into its mold, but let God remake you so that your whole attitude of mind [your person] is changed.” (Phillips, paraphrased, emphasis added). The Lord wants to make you up. Read the rest of this entry

Grace Entry

1 Cor. 15:22 (MSG) “Everybody comes alive in Christ.”

When we choose to live for Christ, His life, His wealth becomes ours. It is a miracle. There is a true-life story about a homeless man in San Francisco. This homeless man went from place to place picking up scrap just to survive. Read the rest of this entry

Treasured

Matt.18:12-13 (VOICE) “…Should the shepherd leave the flock on the hills unguarded to search for the lost sheep? God’s shepherd goes to look for that one lost sheep and when he finds her, he is happier about her return than he is about the 99 who stayed put.”

You need a shepherd and you need a flock. Isa.53:6We’re ALL like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost. We’ve all done our own thing, gone our own way. And God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him.”(MSG, emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Shepherd vs. Cowboy

Ps.26:3 “Your constant love is my guide and your faithfulness always leads me.” (TEV, emphasis added)

Who is your shepherd? I hope that by now you can say Only Jesus! A lot of us know people or are people that travel. When we travel to new places, sometimes we go around the city just to appreciate the sights. Read the rest of this entry

The Charge

Acts 15:32-33 “Then Judas and Silas, both being prophets, spoke at length to the believers, encouraging and strengthening their faith. They stayed for a while, and then the believers sent them back to the church in Jerusalem with a blessing of peace.”

We will begin today’s devotional by staying with the question from yesterday. People do not get answers because they do not stay with the question for long enough. The question is, who is spiritually better because of you? Read the rest of this entry

Team Jesus

John 14:1-2 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?.”

The team you are on matters a lot. Most of the time, the team you are on makes all the difference. As children of God, the team we are on has won already. We are champions already. Read the rest of this entry

Nothing Strange

1 Peter 4:12 “Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you.”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The way people deal with challenges sometimes is very interesting. People go through challenges as if something strange is happening to them. God says it is not strange. Read the rest of this entry

Big Picture

Isa.43:10 “…There is no other God— there never has been, and there never will be. 11 I, yes I, am the Lord, and there is no other Savior… 13 From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.” [with emphasis].

Under or Above Pressure?

Dan.2:14 “When Arioch, the commander of the king’s guard, came to kill them, Daniel handled the situation with wisdom and discretion. 15 He asked Arioch, “Why has the king issued such a harsh decree?” So Arioch told him all that had happened.”

There is so much to learn from how Daniel handled the situation with the king. Daniel was a master negotiator. Daniel’s life was at stake, but he was calm. It was like there was a gun pointed to his head, but he was not under pressure or hysterical. Read the rest of this entry
