Heart Check

Ps.100:3 “Know this: God is God, and God, God. He made us; we didn’t make him. We’re his people, his well-tended sheep. 4 Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.”

Augustine of Hippo says, “Idolatry is worshiping what should be used or using what should be worshipped.” Attempting to use The One to be worshipped is the second dimension of idolatry. It is natural for us human beings to want to leverage on the influence in our networks to get ahead, get out of trouble, or to get an advantage. For instance, you are bidding for a contract in an organization where the CEO was your childhood friend. What a lot of people will do is place a call to the CEO and leverage on that relationship. We tend to leverage on the influence of powerful people Read the rest of this entry

Enjoyment

Ps.63:4I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night.”

People that actively engage in sports –soccer for instance can attest to the fact that a little rain or a lot of rain, does not affect your passion or the game as the case may be. People that play soccer are familiar with the term “Rain-ball”. Read the rest of this entry

The Question

John 21:17 (GW)Jesus asked him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt sad because Jesus had asked him a third time, “Do you love me?” So, Peter said to him, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus told him, “Feed my sheep.”

It’s not about the love for the cause or the movement. Jesus did not ask Peter, “Do you love the cause or the movement?” Nor is it about the love for the church- Jesus did not say, “Peter, do you love the church, the lambs, the sheep”? Read the rest of this entry

Grow Up!

1 Cor.13:11 (TLB) “It’s like this: when I was a child I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things.”

A lot of Christians want to remain infants and that is a problem. For some, as soon as they feel they are no longer infants, then it means something is wrong. God wants you to grow up. A spiritual infant for instance is mostly concerned about ‘me’. Read the rest of this entry

Growth Stages

1 Cor.13:11 (TLB) “It’s like this: when I was a child, I spoke and thought and reasoned as a child does. But when I became a man my thoughts grew far beyond those of my childhood, and now I have put away the childish things.”

God is not only with you, God is for you; so you do not have to wait for things to be perfect before you are happy. You do not have to be perfect for God to love you, but God loves you too much to leave you the way you are. Read the rest of this entry

Beta Release

Eccl. 8:6 (GN)“There is a right time and a right way to do everything but we know so little.” [with emphasis]

There is a right time and a right place to do everything. Do not waste your time and do not waste your energy. There are a few things that we need to know about time and energy. The first is that Time is finite and a constant. Energy, even though finite is a variable. You have twenty-four hours in a day and you have the same amount of energy. If you exercise and eat Read the rest of this entry

Different Nature

Matt.16:25 “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

The second shift you and I need to make in order to have the right perspective is to work like the Lord. Working like Jesus means putting other people ahead of you and getting excited about making them successful. Read the rest of this entry

Classroom

Luke 16:10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can be trusted with much…”

God wants us to work; work is God’s idea and work is a tool He uses to supply our needs. The third reason why God wants us to work is because work develops our character. God uses work as a testing ground for us. Read the rest of this entry

Boast In These

Jer.9:24 “But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!”

Job 38:Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorant words? Brace yourself like a man, because I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.” How does one boast when his or her ignorance is revealed? Read the rest of this entry

Knowing & Understanding

Isa.53:4 Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”

I pray that the whipping that Jesus took on the cross will not be in vain in your life. I also pray that the turmoil and storms in your life will be still. Read the rest of this entry
