In Prayer

1 Kings 17:1 “Now Elijah, who was from Tishbe in Gilead, told King Ahab, “As surely as the Lord, the God of Israel, lives—the God I serve—there will be no dew or rain during the next few years until I give the word!”

Jesus is not just pleading for mercy when it comes to us, Jesus is pleading for justice. It is unjust to punish the same sin twice; Jesus already received the full punishment for our sin on the cross of cavalry. Jesus is saying to God, ‘You have to be just with them; look at Me I died for them. Read the rest of this entry

Come Boldly

Isa.1:18 “Come on now, let’s walk and talk; let’s work this out…” (Voice, emphasis added)

The Book of Psalms is filled with David confronting God. David would go to God and say, ‘God, we need to talk’. When you confront God, your destiny changes. And like we see in today’s anchor scripture, God actually invites us to come and confront Him, to come and work things out. Read the rest of this entry

Rise Up

Phil.3:12-13 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me …one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead” (NIV, emphasis added).

There are barriers to moving from seeing to doing, barriers to taking bold steps, and the first is the barrier of complacency. The second is the barrier of loss or the unwillingness to bear loss. The third barrier is the barrier of pain and the fourth is the barrier of fear – the fear of failure, Read the rest of this entry

Newness

Genesis 13:14-15 “After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession.”

Why sometimes is it so difficult to bring change into our lives? I was having a conversation with Pastor Craig Groeschel about organizational change and honestly, he is an amazing thinker. When I left his office that day, my head was buzzing, and I was writing. Read the rest of this entry

In The Spirit

Romans 8:26 “Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans.” (MSG).

Yesterday, we began to look at the benefits of praying in the spirit and we said we will be focusing on fourteen out of the many benefits of praying in tongues. The first two are When You Pray In Tongues You Charge Yourself Up Spiritually Like A Battery and When You Pray In Tongues You Pray From Your Spirit. Read the rest of this entry

New Season

Isaiah 11:1 “Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot—yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root.”

When you search the Bible for the phrase point of contact, I am not sure you will find it. I have checked the different translations that I could lay my hands on and I did not find it. So why do we do it? It is because everything we do, by God’s grace, is scriptural. Read the rest of this entry

Continual Coming

Luke 18:1 “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.” (emphasis added).

Jesus told a story in Luke 18:1-8 [please read] of the importunate woman. And right at the beginning, Jesus tells us the objective of the story is that we should always pray and never give up.God is saying to you and I, do not give up! You have been praying, do not give up, keep on Read the rest of this entry

How Much More

2 Kings 20:1-2 & 5 “… The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed…  “Go back and tell Hezekiah…” (NIV).

Some people say once God has spoken that it is. Not in all cases and this is why you need to understand the difference between prophesy, God’s promises, and God’s decrees. A prophesy can be changed, it does not make God a liar. Read the rest of this entry

At Midnight

Acts 16:23-24 “They were severely beaten, and then they were thrown into prison. The jailer was ordered to make sure they didn’t escape. So, the jailer put them into the inner dungeon and clamped their feet in the stocks.”

Apart from the pain of accusation, Paul and Silas also felt the pain of arrest. The pain of arrest is being confined by a stronger force. You can only be arrested by someone or something that is stronger than you. Read the rest of this entry

Met In Him

Heb. 10:23 “Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Do you believe that the Lord will do what He has said? Elizabeth said something that is hugely profound to Mary in Luke 1:45 “You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry
