God Sees, Knows, & Rewards

John 10:12–13 “But the worker who serves only for wages is not a real shepherd. Because he has no heart for the sheep he will run away and abandon them when he sees the wolf coming. And then the wolf mauls the sheep, drags them off, and scatters them.” (TPT]

We will start today’s devotional by wrestling with this question: with God’s work, are you a hireling [a hired servant] or a shepherd? What is your approach to your work, your vocation in the market place? Do you approach it as a hired servant or is it as an owner? The truth is, wealth does not flow to you Read the rest of this entry

Premise, Promise

John 8:32 “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Has there been a time when all you thought you knew about life or a particular subject was shredded by the truth? Maybe you thought you were clear on a subject, then you encountered truth and realized that you did not know anything. That feeling or such experiences are actually a prerequisite for growth Read the rest of this entry

His Not Yours, II

John 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son, and tells him everything he is doing; and the Son will do far more awesome miracles than this man’s healing.” (TLB]

John 19:26When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, “Woman, here is your son.” (NRSV, emphasis added). God commits His most precious things to people that are convinced about His love for them. Read the rest of this entry

Mercy & Help

Isaiah 41:10 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

God can help you. In fact, God wants to help you and God wants to be with you. So, we move from, Can God help me? to God can help me, and then because we are convinced that God can help us, we move to, “God must help me”. Read the rest of this entry

Surplus

Isa. 35:6-7 “The lame will leap like a deer, and those who cannot speak will sing for joy! Springs will gush forth in the wilderness, and streams will water the wasteland. The parched ground will become a pool, and springs of water will satisfy the thirsty land…”

God is a God of abundance. Lack [poverty] is inconsistent with the nature of God. Check the Bible, every time God had to meet a need, He goes over and above even when it is not necessary. Read the rest of this entry

Stand On It

Josh.14:6 “…Caleb said to Joshua, “Remember what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me…” (emphasis added)

The challenge with a lot of us is that we do not remember things that God has said to us. We do a lot of writing but when it matters most, we do not remember. This is why a lot of people are worrying and fear has such a strong grip on many lives. It is because we do not remember. Read the rest of this entry

His Example

Mark 3:32-33 “There was a crowd sitting around Jesus, and someone said, “Your mother and your brothers are outside asking for you.” Jesus replied, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” Then he looked at those around him and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers.”

Today’s scripture reference is the crux of our learning on how Jesus simplified His life. Jesus was having a meeting and they told Him that His mother and brothers were outside. Read the rest of this entry

1 Peter 1:9-10 “The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about this gracious salvation prepared for you.”

I used to have what I would describe as a carnal love for cars until God sanctified me. My wife, on the other hand, does not admire cars that much. However, Read the rest of this entry

Standpoint

Luke 18:1 & 8 “One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up… I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?”

Before you delve into today’s devotional, I want you to spend some time studying Luke 8:1-8. I pray that you will be one of those that Jesus will find who have not given up on their prayer points. Read the rest of this entry

Hessed

Ps.63:3 (NKJV) “Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips shall praise You.”

The other sheepdog – mercy is the Hebrew word Hesed [when the person from whom I have a right to expect nothing, gives me everything]. Theologians tell us that it is one of the richest words in Hebrew. Read the rest of this entry
