Three & Two

Isa.43:18-19 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland. (NIV, emphasis added)

Yesterday, we said that from this scripture, we see three things and two outcomes. Understanding these things is key for the next chapter. The first thing is, Do Not Dwell On The Past – forget the former things. Read the rest of this entry

His Guarantee

Ps. 56:3-4 “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid…” (emphasis added).

To defeat and overcome fears, the first thing I need to do is to surrender my life to Jesus. The second thing is to stop listening to the voices of fear. The third thing is, I Sing Of God’s Goodness. All these things are in the Bible, in the Christmas story. Read the rest of this entry

Align With God

Isa. 8:13 “Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.” (KJV).

Mary had the fear of inadequacy. Joseph had the fear of disapproval. The shepherds had the fear of sudden change. Luke 2:8-10That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. SUDDENLY, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Him Alone

Isa. 55:1 “Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; And you who have no money come, buy grain and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost [simply accept it as a gift from God].” (AMP).

It is possible to come to the waters and not drink if you are not thirsty. Interestingly, it is only what you thirst for that can satisfy your thirst. Nothing else can. Peter and John had left but Mary could not leave, she was thirsty because, at this point, all Mary had was Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

The Privilege

John 16:23 “At that time you won’t need to ask me for anything. I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name.” (emphasis added).

Jesus changes gear here and introduces us to another privilege of Him going away. Jesus says you and I can go straight to the Father in His Name just as He does. Just as the disciples saw Him do the tomb of Lazarus in John 11 and as they will still see Him do in John 17. Read the rest of this entry

Priority One

John 16:13-14 “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.”

Today, we will pick up from our final thought from yesterday which is that Jesus promises that the Holy Spirit will tell us things that are not in any book. The Holy Spirit will give us directions that are not written anywhere. There are things that God wants to teach you by Himself. Read the rest of this entry

God’s Gift

John 11:4 “But when Jesus heard about it he said, “Lazarus’s sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this.” (emphasis added)

Jesus’ statement is very profound. If you are a child of God, you can safely conclude that what you are going through will not end in death. What you are going through will end in God’s glory. Am I saying that people will not die? Of course not. Read the rest of this entry

The Plot

John 11:25-26 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

We are more than halfway through our study of the Book of John. God’s Words by itself is life and it is so beautiful to see how Jesus responds to things. God’s Word is so refreshing, and I am confident that even as our minds are being renewed, our lives are being transformed. Amen! We are in an era where Read the rest of this entry

Engrave It

John 10:28-29 “And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and no one will ever snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (AMP]

John 10:24-26So the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name testify to me; but you do not believe, because you do not belong to my sheep. Read the rest of this entry

Nothing Except

John 3:27 “John replied, “A man can receive nothing [he can claim nothing at all] unless it has been granted to him from heaven [for there is no other source than the sovereign will of God].” (AMP, emphasis added).

A man [born again or not] can receive nothing, except it is given to him from above. Yesterday we looked at the first two implications of this statement. The first implication is, Look To God And God Alone As Your Source. Read the rest of this entry
