To Know

John 16:8-11 “And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” (NKJV]

As they stood there, at the cross jeering and laughing at Jesus, the Jews could never have imagined three things. Firstly, that the atonement of the world’s sin, including their own, was on Jesus. Like we said yesterday, Jesus took care of all our sins on the cross – past, present, and future. Read the rest of this entry

Ex. 3:13-14 “But Moses protested, “If I go to the people of Israel and tell them, ‘The God of your ancestors has sent me to you,’ they will ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what should I tell them?” God replied to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.”

I read this and wondered, Moses why not just ask, “What is Your Name? I want to know Your Name.” Instead of narrating this long epistle about people asking and not knowing what to tell them. Do you know His Name, Moses, are you not interested in knowing His Name? Read the rest of this entry

I AM!

John 15:8 “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.”

You have to be fruitful! The mark of a true disciple in Jesus is fruitfulness. John 15:8 “When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” (emphasis added). Not just glory, but great glory. Read the rest of this entry

In Time

John 6:14-15 “When the people saw him do this miraculous sign, they exclaimed, “Surely, he is the Prophet we have been expecting!” When Jesus saw that they were ready to force him to be their king, he slipped away into the hills by himself.” (emphasis added).

I always like to imagine how things would play out in scenarios like this one. After they had eaten and everyone was full, the people said to Him with excitement in their voice, ‘Jesus, welcome! We thought You could only heal. We did not know You could also give bread.’ Read the rest of this entry

The Answer

2 Kings 4:2-3 “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbours”

Phillip and Andrew are always mostly together, the same way John was with Peter and sometimes James. Even among the twelve, they had friendships going on. Anytime you see Phillip in the Bible, look very closely, you will find Andrew. Read the rest of this entry

No Limits

Ps. 50:10-11 “For all the animals of field and forest are mine! The cattle on a thousand hills! And all the birds upon the mountains!” (TLB]

One of the best gifts you can give yourself is to leave “How” to God. Just leave the “How” to God. As a Pastor, I have had different seasons in my life. Initially, as soon as God speaks to me and tells me the direction, I would be eager to share it. Read the rest of this entry

Testing

Job 23: 10-11 “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold. For I have stayed on God’s paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.”

John 6:5-7 Jesus soon saw a huge crowd of people coming to look for him. Turning to Philip, he asked, “Where can we buy bread to feed all these people?” He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do. Philip replied, “Even if we worked for months, we wouldn’t have enough money to feed them!” (emphasis added). Read the rest of this entry

Saviour

John 5:14 “But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” (emphasis added).

This man had been crippled for thirty-eight years, so what sin was he committing?  Lust, greed, anger maybe; bitterness against the people that were supposed to help him but did not help him. Maybe jealousy against the people that got into the water first. Read the rest of this entry

Compass

John 5:9-10 “Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

When the Bible says this miracle was done on the sabbath, you know that there is trouble coming. Telling the man that, “The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!” was a lie. It was actually a Pharisaic oral law, not the Mosaic Law. Read the rest of this entry

Love Obeys

John 14:23-24 “Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey me. And remember, my words are not my own. What I am telling you is from the Father who sent me.”

John 2:7-8Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So, the servants followed his instructions.” Read the rest of this entry
