The Angel

Judges 6:21 “Then the Angel of the Lord put out the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread; and fire rose out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Angel of the Lord departed…” (NKJV, emphasis added).

John 8:58Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, I AM!” What was Jesus really talking about here? In the Old Testament, the Bible refers to angelic beings using the term an angel of the Lord or an angel from God. Read the rest of this entry

Who Are You?

Gal.5:16 (NIV) “So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

We are starting today’s devotional by diving headfirst into God’s Word. John 1:19-23This is the testimony given by John when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed and did not deny it, but confessed, “I am not the Messiah.” And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” He answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you? Let us have an answer for those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?” He said, “I am the voice of one crying out in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’” as the prophet Isaiah said.” (NRSV). The Prophet they are referring to is the one Moses spoke about in Deuteronomy 18:15 [please read]. Read the rest of this entry

In Us & With Us

John 16:7 “But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”

The Amplified Bible Translation of today’s scripture reference reads, “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. Stand On It

Josh.14:6 “…Caleb said to Joshua, “Remember what the Lord said to Moses, the man of God, about you and me…” (emphasis added)

The challenge with a lot of us is that we do not remember things that God has said to us. We do a lot of writing but when it matters most, we do not remember. This is why a lot of people are worrying and fear has such a strong grip on many lives. It is because we do not remember. Read the rest of this entry

Hear His Voice

Mark 5:36 “But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just have faith.” (emphasis added).

This season, Jesus’ direct Words to us are Don’t Be Afraid, Just Have Faith. Please read Mark 5:21-43, it is our anchor scripture for the season. Hanging out with Jesus must have been frustrating for the disciples sometimes. Read the rest of this entry

Of Abraham

Matt.1:1This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham [with emphasis]

Gal.4:4But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law” [with emphasis]. What is the significance of the Messiah being born of a woman? Read the rest of this entry

His Sheep?

Prov.8:18 (VOICE) “Riches and honor are the benefit of following me; so are lasting wealth and justice. 19 My reward is better than gold, even the purest gold; and my profit is greater than the highest quality silver.”

Today, we continue with the concluding thought from yesterday’s devotional, which is, there are only three times that God does not supply. The first is when it is time to go home. Read the rest of this entry

Overflow

Eph.3:20 (NKJV) “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Overflow simply means an excess of supply that cannot be accommodated by the available space. In other words, there is not enough space for what is coming. Read the rest of this entry

Secure Indeed

Ps.62:1-2 [MSG] “God, the one and only— I’ll wait as long as he says. Everything I need comes from him, so why not? He’s solid rock under my feet, breathing room for my soul, an impregnable castle: I’m set for life.”

Imagine this, a child is jolted from deep sleep by the sound of thunder and the first thing he sees is lighting flashing through the window blinds. The lights are off because the storm has caused a power outage, Read the rest of this entry

Valley Plan

Ps.23:4 (NKJV) “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death…” [with emphasis]

The valley looks like death, it is a shadow, but it is not death. You may think that situation is going to kill you or that you have come to the end. But it will not kill you and it is not the end. Read the rest of this entry
