Spot-on

2 Tim.3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”

The instructions of the Book of Daniel are so important and key to us and to our walk with God. Particularly when you look at the values that are being upheld, seeing how people are lacking in character. Read the rest of this entry

Mission Field

Acts 20:24 But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.”

Our scripture reference today poses us a question that you and I must answer for ourselves. Darius said to Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve so faithfully, rescue you” [Dan.6:16]. Read the rest of this entry

Redefined!

Luke 18:22 “…he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 23 But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich.”

In other words, Jesus was saying do not just stop at giving up everything alone, go beyond, and give yourself to serving too. Follow me in my itinerant ministry. But when the man heard this he became very sad because he was very rich.

Of The Heart

Acts 9:39 “So Peter returned with them… they took him to the upstairs room… filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them. 40 …then he knelt and prayed… 41 …Then he …presented her to them alive.”

Right Conditions?

1 Cor.12:4-5 (GN) “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts … and there are different ways of serving …” [with emphasis].

In order to find the right place to work, you must first evaluate your past work. Secondly, evaluate your abilities, and thirdly, evaluate your work environment. In what environment are you most productive? – can you tell? Read the rest of this entry

From Above

Col.3:24 (GN)”… Remember that the Lord will reward you… For Christ is the real Master you serve.” [with emphasis]

When we work for the Lord and work like the Lord then we should expect our reward from the Lord. This is the third step to having a proper perspective. Read the rest of this entry

Different Nature

Matt.16:25 “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.”

The second shift you and I need to make in order to have the right perspective is to work like the Lord. Working like Jesus means putting other people ahead of you and getting excited about making them successful. Read the rest of this entry

The Heart

Col.3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”  [with emphasis]

Whatever you do, including your job, work at it with all your heart as though you are working for the Lord and not for men. Even if your boss is an unbeliever or you are not paid well, you are to put in your best; it is unto God. Read the rest of this entry

Light

1 Thess. 4:11 (GN) “Make it your aim to live a quiet life, to mind your own business, and earn your own living… In this way, you will win the respect of those who are not believers…”

Over the past few days, God has been answering the question, “Why Work?” In addition to work being God’s idea, work being a tool God uses to supply our needs, and work being a platform that God uses to build character in us, today God is saying to us work because work allows you to be generous. Joy vs. Happiness

James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.

Nobody enjoys trials, not even Jesus. Jesus did not like the cross and He is the Son of God. Jesus told everyone that the cross was the purpose for which He had come but when He was faced with the cross, He ran to the Father. “Lord, if it is Your will make this cup pass over me”.
