Get Renewal

Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. (LB)

How do I defeat discouragement? I Never Forget How Much God Loves Me. I Do Not Fake It. I Remember It Is Not About Me. I Relax In My Limitations. And I Use My Pain To Help Others. Read the rest of this entry

All In

Esther 4:15-16 “Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”

In God, you put all your eggs in one basket, and you hand it over to God. That was what Esther did as we see in our anchor scripture today. Esther put all her eggs in God’s basket. The world says to us, do not put all your eggs in one basket, what if God fails? Read the rest of this entry

This John, II

1Jn.1:1 “We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.” (emphasis added).

At the end of his life, John could confidently write that Jesus is not a figment of his imagination. He knew Jesus experientially; John said, “this is the Word of life whom I have seen, I have touched and I myself have handled”. The Word can become life to you. Read the rest of this entry

Harmony

James 3:9-10 Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!”

Our final thought from yesterday’s devotional is really big and worthy of repetition because it is so important that we get what James is saying to us. And it is this; exhibiting the gifts of the Holy Spirit and not manifesting the fruit of the Holy Spirit is a misnomer. Read the rest of this entry

Spirit Guided

2 Pet. 3:17-18 (MSG) “But you, friends, are well-warned. Be on guard lest you lose your footing and get swept off your feet by these lawless and loose-talking teachers. Grow in grace and understanding of our Master and Saviour, Jesus Christ…”

In a counselling session, my wife and I were speaking to a couple about submission. One of the ways God has helped me in my life is, I hear what is spoken and what is not spoken. In the course of the session, Read the rest of this entry

Incorruptible Seed

Prov. 22:6 (TPT) “Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they’ve learned from you will be with them for life.”

Take note that in this season, there is a strong emphasis on children getting involved in spiritual exercises – fasting and praying. Read the rest of this entry

Prayer Life

1 Thess. 5:17 “Never stop praying.”

The Passion Translation reads, “Make your life a prayer.” We have different seasons as a community and when you make use of those seasons you build up your muscles-your spiritual muscles. Read the rest of this entry

The Passion I

1 John 1:1 (ERV) “We want to tell you about the Word that gives life—the one who existed before the world began. This is the one we have heard and have seen with our own eyes. We saw what he did, and our hands touched him. 2 Yes, the one who is life was shown to us…”

The sheep is always limited. While God wants you to use your brain, the Holy Spirit wants to take you beyond limits. While God wants you to use your brain, Read the rest of this entry

His Name Not Yours

Dan.9:17 “O our God, hear your servant’s prayer! Listen as I plead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate sanctuary.”

I have found in my walk with God, that one of the strongest pleas in supplication is “for your own sake” and Daniel also deployed this. Read the rest of this entry

Relationships

Dan.2:17 “…Daniel… told his friends… what had happened. 18 He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men… 19 That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision…”

Daniel had friends, people he was doing life with, people who could pray for him and with him. Do you have friends? Daniel was in a “Life group”, are you in a Life group? You are the average of the three people you spend the most time with. Read the rest of this entry
