Dive Deep

John 3:1-2 “Nicodemus was one of the Pharisees, a man with some clout among his people. He came to Jesus under the cloak of darkness to question Him…” (Voice]

Yesterday, we saw that the man Nicodemus was an extremely powerful and wealthy Jew. He was a member of the Sanhedrin [the council], the ruling class. Nicodemus and a lot of other Pharisees were earnest seeking men who loved God and loved the Torah passionately. Read the rest of this entry

The Proof

John 3:2 “He came to Jesus under the cloak of darkness to question Him. Nicodemus: Teacher, some of us have been talking. You are obviously a teacher who has come from God. The signs You are doing are proof that God is with You.” (Voice]

What have you not been able to shake off so far on our study of the Book of John? It is not that you should be able to shake off any part of the Word of God but what sticks for you? The purpose of Bible study is for you to get to know the Bible for yourself. Read the rest of this entry

Learn & Grow, I

1 John 4:6 “But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.”

In today’s devotional, we will be answering some questions. So, pay attention.

Question #1: How do we develop the spirit of discernment? Heb.5:14 …by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” (NKJV]. Discernment can be developed by reason of use; the more you exercise it, the sharper you become, and the better it becomes. Read the rest of this entry

Heart

1 John 4:1 “My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God…” (MSG]

There are some things you will say that you think they have forgotten, but they are holding it. Then when you are at your lowest point, they will use it against you. They say, I thought you said this and that? You wanted to break down the temple, break it down, they said to Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

The Temple

John 2:16Then, going over to the people who sold doves, he told them, “Get these things out of here…” (emphasis added)

Yesterday, we saw Jesus doing some very unconventional things. Jesus did not only hand make a whip, He used it on people. This is not the picture of Jesus a lot of Christians want to see. Jesus is one hundred percent grace (100%) and one hundred percent truth (100%). Read the rest of this entry

The Path

John 2:11 “This miraculous sign at Cana in Galilee was the first time Jesus revealed his glory. And his disciples believed in him.”

John 2:9-10When the master of ceremonies tasted the water that was now wine, not knowing where it had come from (though, of course, the servants knew), he called the bridegroom over. “A host always serves the best wine first,” he said. “Then, when everyone has had a lot to drink, he brings out the less expensive wine. But you have kept the best until now!” (NRSV, emphasis added). Every time people look at your life and say, “We thought we had seen your best, but this is even better!” Read the rest of this entry

Yes And No

Gen.37:10 “This time he told the dream to his father as well as to his brothers, but his father scolded him. “What kind of dream is that?” he asked. “Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow to the ground before you?”

Over the past few days, we have learned that Mary was an executionist and she had power with God. Mary used her power with God to change and influence things for others. We have seen from the example of Mary that when you have power with God, you can change things. Read the rest of this entry

Influence

John 2:4-5 “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” (emphasis added).

When you have power with God you can influence heaven and things will change. Mary knew she had power with God and she influenced heaven, not for herself but for people who had no clue and this is big. Read the rest of this entry

Fresh & Sweet

John 2:3-4 “The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.” (emphasis added).

The wine supply ran out during the festivities. We see from today’s scripture reference that in this life, the wine or the wine supply can run out. Things cannot always be perfect; sometimes things will not always go as you want it to go. Read the rest of this entry

Impact

Ecc. 3:1 “For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.”

Please John 2:1-11 (NRSV] and as you read, you will be blessed because the Word of God is life.  We continue to journey with John and this time he is narrating what happened at the wedding in Cana of Galilee on the third day.
