Joy Unstoppable

John 15:10 “When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love”

God says rejoice but you have to choose to rejoice. There are two dimensions to this command – there is the prophetic dimension and there is the instructional dimension.
The Instructional Dimension: I have discovered that there is nothing better than rejoicing. There is nothing stronger than joy. In fact, joy is such a strong force. It is unstoppable. God is giving you a life- long instruction and that is to rejoice – it is a command. When people question your rejoicing, tell them you are obeying God because God has commanded you to rejoice.

Your Choice

Phil.4:4 “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!”

The writer of this Scripture felt the need to repeat the word “rejoice” because it is worthy of emphasis. Always be full of joy in the Lord – always, I dare to say it again Rejoice! Rejoice because satan is the owner of sorrow. It is not yours so do not carry it. Phil.4:4 “Keep on rejoicing in the Lord at all times. I will say it again: Keep on rejoicing!” [ISV, with emphasis]. I pray that in your house it would be said that rejoicing is constant, in Jesus Name.

Proper Perspective

Deut.18:9 “…be very careful not to imitate the detestable customs of the nations… 10 For example, …fortune-telling …sorcery …interpret omens …witchcraft, …cast spells 11…mediums or psychics… 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord…” [with emphasis]

God says anyone whether pastors, prophets, evangelist, apostles, believer, non-believer, whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord. The fact that people throw a cloak of Pentecostalism over fortune telling does not change it from divination as far as heaven is concerned and heaven detests it. Deut.18:13 “But you must be blameless before the Lord your God. 14The nations you are about to displace consult sorcerers and fortune-tellers, but the Lord your God forbids you to do such things.” Let your ears hear what the Spirit is saying.

Engage

1 Pet.3:3 “Don’t be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. 4 You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God.”

1 Pet.3:5This is how the holy women of old made themselves beautiful. They put their trust in God and accepted the authority…” God is just amazing! Right here in His Word, He has laid out the keys to lasting beauty. Do not get me

wrong; as a lady you must take care of yourself. But you are not to be completely focused on looking good, sounding right and smelling good. If you are not good within, all those things will not matter. Imagine buying a designer perfume, the package came with the designers seal so you have no reason to Read the rest of this entry

Ultimate Pleasure

Ps.63: 3 “Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise you! 4 I will praise you as long as I live, lifting up my hands to you in prayer. 5 You satisfy me more than the richest feast. I will praise you with songs of joy. 6 I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you…”

C. S. Lewis says, “He who has God and everything else has no more than he who has God only”. What he is saying is if Brother A has God, a house, five cars, a beautiful wife, twenty children, and everything he wants and Brother B has God, no house, and nobody wants to marry him, C. S. Lewis says, Brother A does not have more than Brother B. Wow! So what about the other things? The truth is as long as you have God, you have everything because God is all. In fact Brother B will discover that in the Presence of God there is fullness of joy and at God’s right hand are all the things he is even looking for – the pleasures forever more.

Knowing I

Luke 21:33 [TLB] And though all heaven and earth shall pass away, yet my words remain forever true.”

Over the next few days, we are going to learn six plus one ways of testing a message and recognizing God’s voice. This is not some clever way of getting you to solve a math problem. It is six plus one because the first six ways are indispensable. Every Word from God must pass the first six tests. If it fails even one out of the six, throw it out or keep it in the cooler. The seventh is also very crucial but again it is not. You can authenticate with just the first six. So let us just say the seventh is an added advantage.

Speak Truth!

Prov.27:6 “Wounds from a friend are better than many kisses from an enemy.”

God wants to speak through you. God wants you to be His mouthpiece that would tell people the truth and help to save a life, save a destiny, save a family, save a generation. The problem with us in the twenty first century is that we excuse ourselves by saying, “it is really not my business” or “let everybody mind their own business”. I am here to tell you that it is your business. It is your Read the rest of this entry

Be Wise

Pro.12:26The godly give wise advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.”

You have to be true to yourself and accept the fact that everyone, including you, has a blind spot. Otherwise, you will not appreciate the people God puts around you to tell you the truth. When you recognize that God speaks through Other Believers, you are better positioned to listen for His voice in conversations. But take note; the fact that God has spoken through somebody does not Read the rest of this entry

His Channels II

Rom.12:6 (GW) “God in His kindness gave each of us different gifts. If your gift is speaking God’s Word, make sure what you say agrees with the faith.” [with emphasis]

God speaks through ministry gifts. Have you ever been in church and it is like the minister is talking to you? In fact, I have actually had cases where spouses are accusing each other of reporting to pastor. Meanwhile nobody told me anything. During one service I said, “how can you, husband and wife, be fighting over suya [spicy beef jerky]? Read the rest of this entry

Infinitely Good

“I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord…  Be strong, and let your heart take courage; Wait for the Lord.”  Psalm 27:13-14 [NAS, emphasis added]

Problems attempt to make us perplexed until we are depressed. #2: When Your Situation Looks DEPRESSING, Think About The Goodness of God. Depression is a signal that our focus is on the wrong things. When discouragement and depression want to set in, it is proof that I have been focusing on the wrong things. Personally, I thank God for the grace to be alert enough to spot traces of discouragement or depression. And as soon as I do, I think clearly about what I have Read the rest of this entry
