Unstoppable I

Ex.15: 6 “Your right hand, O Lord, is glorious in power.
Your right hand, O Lord, smashes the enemy. 7 In the greatness of your majesty,
you overthrow those who rise against you.
You unleash your blazing fury; it consumes them like straw”.

Most times when God does something, the enemy also tries to imitate what God has done. Take the story of Moses for example, he threw down his rod as God instructed and it turned into a serpent. Pharaoh’s sorcerers also threw down their rods and the rods became serpents. Moses had one serpent but the enemy had many serpents. Read the rest of this entry

Just Because

Luke 10:20 “But don’t rejoice because evil spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered in heaven” [with emphasis].

Is your name registered in heaven? Jesus says that the most important thing is that your name and my name are registered in heaven. I like the word registered and it suggests that there is a registration process. You just do not show up in Heaven just like that. Your name has to be registered in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Your name has to be registered in heaven.

Speak Up

Est.4:16Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die.”

The beauty about our relationship with God is that whenever we call on Him, He hears us and answers us. Scriptures give us many examples of God’s faithfulness through answered prayers. Over the next few days we are going to be looking at examples of people in the Bible that encountered God, how God changed their destinies and they moved forward.

Our first example is Esther. King Xerxes had a problem with his wife and she was dethroned. His search for a new queen led him to Read the rest of this entry

At What Cost?

Luke 14:28 “But don’t begin until you count the cost. For who would begin construction of a building without first calculating the cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?”

Before I surrendered to Jesus, there was a testimony that was making headlines. It was about a university student that had all her priorities wrong; she was evangelizing instead of being in class, at night vigils instead of reading, arranging chairs in church instead of doing her assignments. Is that not foolishness? Is that what God has sent her to do?

When exams came, she did not know anything. So she laid hands on and prayed over her blank answer sheet. The truth we need to Read the rest of this entry

Competency

Prov.22:29 “Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people”

The third way to increase worthiness or to become worthy is to be competent. Competence particularly is a burden. There are so many people that love God and are tongue talking but are totally incompetent. A lady was trying to sell a product to me but it was obvious she did not even know the product. In the past I have made up my mind not to let anyone waste my time; instead I switch off from the conversation. When she noticed I was switching off she said, “But I come to your church!” My response was, “That even Read the rest of this entry

On Track

1 Tim.5:22 [GW] “Don’t be in a hurry to place your hands on anyone [to ordain him]. Don’t participate in the sin of others. Keep yourself morally pure”

The King James Version for 1Timothy 5:22 reads, “Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be a partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure”. The question to those who are thinking of going into a business is, is the person you are about to partner with worthy? It really does not matter if the person is your brother, or sister, or uncle, or your father. If you enter into a business deal with somebody that is unworthy, you are going to exit crying. In this life, worthiness is totally indispensable.  Sometimes, people complain that they Read the rest of this entry

Worthy?

Matt.22:13 Then the king said to his aides, ‘Bind his hands and feet and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 “For many are called, but few are chosen.”

Please read Matthew 22. If you are like me, you would agree that the king’s sentence is rather harsh, right? When I read this, I wrestled with it. What has he done to deserve being cast into outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth? And then it occurred to me that being called is a function of favour but being chosen is a function of being worthy. Many are called but few are chosen. I pray that you will be part of the chosen and that you will be worthy in Jesus Name.

Called vs. Chosen

2Pet.1:10 [KJV, emphasis added] “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall

What this Scripture is pointing out is that your calling is not sure. It is on shaky ground. The fact that God has a destiny for you does not mean you will fulfill it. I know that this is not popular devotional content and I know it is tough to take in. But if you can open your heart to what God is saying in this season, your life will change drastically.

You are favored but are you worthy? It is possible to be favoured and unworthy. So how do you make your calling sure? Simple; you Read the rest of this entry

Lu.11:9 [NIV] “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”

So many people just sit around waiting for breakthroughs. Can I tell you a secret? Every time you are waiting for a breakthrough, your breakthrough is waiting for you. Every time you are waiting for favour, your favour is waiting for you. People are waiting for open doors; God wants you to get up and break down the door. If you knock and the door does not open, break it down! And that is God’s heart revealed to us in the parables in Luke 11.

Trigger

1 Kings 3:3-5 Solomon loved the Lord and followed all the decrees of his father, David… so the king went there and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings. That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream, and God said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”

I was talking to a little girl and our conversation touched on the subject of crying. So I asked her if she ever heard an adult cry, and she said yes. So I asked who? And she said her father. So I kind of mentally tried to prepare myself for what would come next. Then I asked her who? And she said, “My Dad!” I asked again, “You’ve seen your Dad cry?” She said, “yes!” Why, what happened? I asked. And she said, “My dad cries Read the rest of this entry
