What Will It Be?

John 11:20 & 32 “When Martha got word that Jesus was coming, she went to meet him. But Mary stayed in the house.” … “When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died.”

Martha and Mary are both Christians but with two very different personalities. Both interacted with Jesus differently and both got different responses from Him, even though Jesus loved them both. When we contrast Martha’s response to Mary’s response from today’s scripture reference, Read the rest of this entry

The Plot

John 11:25-26 “Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?”

We are more than halfway through our study of the Book of John. God’s Words by itself is life and it is so beautiful to see how Jesus responds to things. God’s Word is so refreshing, and I am confident that even as our minds are being renewed, our lives are being transformed. Amen! We are in an era where Read the rest of this entry

Refresh

Isa.55:8-9 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

Please read John 5:16-47; every time we open God’s Word, we must approach it knowing that it is so hugely important. So, my prayer for us is that God will teach us Himself and give us understanding in the Mighty Name of Jesus. Jesus was an enigma. Read the rest of this entry

Saviour

John 5:14 “But afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and told him, “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” (emphasis added).

This man had been crippled for thirty-eight years, so what sin was he committing?  Lust, greed, anger maybe; bitterness against the people that were supposed to help him but did not help him. Maybe jealousy against the people that got into the water first. Read the rest of this entry

Compass

John 5:9-10 “Instantly, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking! But this miracle happened on the Sabbath, so the Jewish leaders objected. They said to the man who was cured, “You can’t work on the Sabbath! The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!”

When the Bible says this miracle was done on the sabbath, you know that there is trouble coming. Telling the man that, “The law doesn’t allow you to carry that sleeping mat!” was a lie. It was actually a Pharisaic oral law, not the Mosaic Law. Read the rest of this entry

Question vs. Answer

John 5:6-7 “…So Jesus said to him, “Do you truly long to be healed?” The sick man answered him, “Sir, there’s no way I can get healed, for I have no one who will lower me into the water when the angel comes. As soon as I try to crawl to the edge of the pool, someone else jumps in ahead of me.”

If Jesus was standing in front of you today asking, “Would you like to get well?”, what will your response be? We all need to wrestle with this. The word ‘well’ in today’s scripture reference could mean many things. Read the rest of this entry

Boundless

John.4:6-7 “Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.”

What are the things in your life that perhaps you are ashamed of? For the Samaritan woman, it was perhaps having five husbands. The Rabbis had declared three husbands to be the limit for women. Interestingly, men had no limit to how many wives they could marry. Read the rest of this entry

Life Light

Jn.1:4 “The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.”

Dabar, God’s Word, gives life and that life brings light. It is not the other way around; we will like to have light first before we put life into a situation. But God puts His life and His life brings the light. In Gen.1, in the beginning the earth was without form and void, Read the rest of this entry

By The Spirit III

1Cor.12:31 “But earnestly desire and zealously cultivate the greatest and best gifts and graces (the higher gifts and the choicest graces) …” (AMPC)

1 Cor. 12:9-10to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” (NKJV). The third gift is the gift of Faith. There are three types of faith in the scriptures. There is a saving faith. There is the fruit of faith. And there is the gift of faith. Thirsty?

John 7:37-38 “On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”

The Holy Spirit is the person of God Himself. Believers in the Old Testament obviously had the Holy Spirit in certain measures, and they had certain encounters with the Holy Spirit. Read the rest of this entry
