The Four

John 2:3-4 “The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.” “Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”

Yesterday, we began to talk about the need to surround ourselves with the right type of people. And we said that usually there are four types of people; the Pessimist, the Optimist, the Analyst, and the Executionist. Read the rest of this entry

Word Probe

2 Tim.2:15 “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.”

We are going into a study of the Book of John. Let me tell you upfront, we are going to be drinking from a water hydrant [gushing streams] so be prepared. The question is how hungry are you and what can you take in? My prayer is that you will take all in, in Jesus Name [say Amen]. Read the rest of this entry

New Wine

Mark 2:22And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the wine would burst the wineskins, and the wine and the skins would both be lost. New wine calls for new wineskins.”

1 Cor.12:7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” (NRSV, emphasis added). Yesterday, I shared how we used to take people through a spiritual experience. However, because we recognize that man is spirit, it is possible for people to be spiritually active even before they surrender to Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

Thirsty?

John 7:37-38 “On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”

The Holy Spirit is the person of God Himself. Believers in the Old Testament obviously had the Holy Spirit in certain measures, and they had certain encounters with the Holy Spirit. Read the rest of this entry

In Us & With Us

John 16:7 “But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”

The Amplified Bible Translation of today’s scripture reference reads, “But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you]. Clear Confidence

John 3:36…whoever accepts and trusts God’s Son gets in on everything, life complete and forever! (But) the person who avoids and distrusts God’s Son is in the dark and doesn’t see life…” (MSG, paraphrased, emphasis added)

Our walk with God is a walk of faith. When you step out and walk with God in faith, God gives you clarity. When clarity comes, you take your next step. Some answers are waiting for you on step five, but you are on step two. God says, take the next step, move to step three. But you are insisting on getting answers now. Read the rest of this entry

Right Order

Acts 17:28 (TPT) “It is through him that we live and function and have our identity; just as your own poets have said, ‘Our lineage comes from him.’”

We need to start living for the things we need to live for. Do not make the things you need to live on the things you are living for. Do not make your car what you are living for or a motorcycle rider will teach you a lesson. Read the rest of this entry

The Better Life

John 4:14 (TLB) “But the water I give them,” he said, “becomes a perpetual spring within them, watering them forever with eternal life.”

In yesterday’s devotional, we established that everyone wants to have “the good life” and the good life means different things to different people. However, in the pursuit of the good life, we experience exhaustion; we are tired because it is draining. Read the rest of this entry

Responses I

Ps. 92:4-6 “You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done. O Lord, what great works you do! And how deep are your thoughts. Only a simpleton would not know, and only a fool would not understand this”

How does your shepherd respond when you are in a pit? If one falls into a deep pit, there are more than five world views on the corresponding response. I am going to share five of the major world views from the five major world religions. Read the rest of this entry

1 Tim.1:18 (Voice) “…my dear child, I am placing before you a charge for the mission ahead. It is in total agreement with the prophecies once spoken over you. Here it is: with God’s message stirring and directing you, fight the good fight”

I pray that as you have come into God’s presence today, that God will breath on you, speak to your heart, and cause His counsel alone to stand in your life, in Jesus Name. Read the rest of this entry
