Stay Sharp

Matt.25:2–4 “Five of them were foolish and ill-prepared, for they took no extra oil for their lamps. Five of them were wise, for they took flasks of olive oil with their lamps.” (TPT)

Matt.25:6-9Then suddenly, in the middle of the night, they were awakened by the shout ‘Get up! The bridegroom is here! Come out and have an encounter with him!’ So all the girls got up and trimmed their lamps. But the foolish ones were running out of oil, so they said to the five wise ones, ‘Share your oil with us, because our lamps are going out!’ ‘We can’t,’ they replied. ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. You’ll have to go and buy some for yourselves!'” Read the rest of this entry

Hurry Home

Isa.54:2-3 “Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left…” (KJV).

God differentiates between men and women; do you know that? There are things God can tell a man, but He cannot tell a woman. I know, I know, I know this is the twenty-first century, what a man can do, a woman can do better. Read the rest of this entry

Timing

John 9:4 “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.”

The King James Version of the same John 9:4 reads, “I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” There is an urgency in reaching people for God and in reaching souls for Jesus. Read the rest of this entry

High Priority

Leviticus 26:4 “I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.” (NRSV)

Yesterday we began to look at the significance of rain and that is where we will pick up today’s devotional from. Rain causes a harvest. Rain refreshes. Rain signifies a change in season. One huge importance of rain is a leveller. Read the rest of this entry

The Rain

Isaiah 55:10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there until they have watered the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.” (NRSV)

Ps.123:1-3I raise my eyes to fix my gaze on You, for Your throne resides in the heavens. Just as the eyes of servants closely watch the hand of their masters, just as a maid carefully observes the slightest gesture of her mistress, in the same way, we look to You, Eternal One, waiting for our God to pour out His mercy upon us.” (Voice). The One

Daniel 4:34 “After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honoured the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.”

King Nebuchadnezzar is an example of someone who forgot that God was his source and began to look to ‘Nile’. God had prospered him and given him multiple victories and conquests. God in His mercy had previously warned Nebuchadnezzar in a dream, but time passed, and nothing happened. Read the rest of this entry

Never Forget

Deu.26:12 “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none.” (NIV)

Yesterday, we talked about an aspect of the Promised Land that was a struggle for the children of Israel back then and a lot of Christians struggle with it even today. God took them from a place where the water was flowing from the ground [the Nile] to a place where they needed to look up to Read the rest of this entry

The Source

1 Kings 18:43 “Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look.”

Even though Elijah had heard the sound of the abundance of rain, he still went to pray. Why? Prayer is what connects heaven to earth. Elijah put his head between his knees and began to pray. After a while, he sent his servant to go and check, but he saw nothing. Read the rest of this entry

Will You?

Ps.50:10-12 “For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it.”

What are you sacrificing today that most people will not sacrifice so that you can live tomorrow as few people will? What are you sacrificing? If you cannot answer that question, it means that you are currently living a mediocre life, an average life, and tomorrow is going to be as average. Read the rest of this entry

The Blood

Jude 1:24 “Now, to the one with enough power to prevent you from stumbling into sin[a] and bring you faultless before his glorious presence to stand before him with ecstatic delight.” (TPT)

We start today’s devotional by delving deeper into 1 John 1 from yesterday. We are still looking at the two things that must be in place for us to take bold steps towards God and they are righteousness and single-mindedness. Read the rest of this entry
